Okay, so I know that's a funny title, but you should expect that from me by now. I was scanning some old pictures yesterday when I realized I had a bunch of me on swings as a kid. I guess I loved swinging more than I remember. My grandparents had a great swingset (the red & white one pictured here) and I couldn't wait to get on it whenever we visited their house. I think the picture below of me and my sister might have been taken at our Oak View house, so I'm guessing we had a swingset there, too. We didn't have one at our Ojai house, though I did have one of those disk-swings that hung from an eucalyptus tree. I loved swinging and spinning on that thing. I was trying to remember the last time I was on a swing and it was probably in 2006 when we moved from California to Montana. I know we stopped at a few RV parks that had swings. I'm thinking that was the last time. Guess it's time to find another one -- afterall, do you ever grow out of swinging?
Just a note -- the second to last picture always freaks me out. That's my sister Sharon on the left and I'm standing on the higher swing. We look EXACTLY like my girls, Nichelle & Nicole in that picture. It's bizarre!
ReplyDeleteAwww...those pictures are SO sweet, Rena. We are HUGE 'swingers' around here too. In fact, we have three in our basement (Jaimie and Xander use them w/their sensory diet routines) and they are the first thing the kids run to when we go to the park.
ReplyDeleteLast summer, I swung right alongside my older girls instead of just being the pusher. It really is a wonderful feeling...very calming. =)
(And I have a picture of me that SO looks like Jaimie at the same age. Isn't that weird but wonderful when you see that?)
Thanks for this, Rena.

I love to swing. We had a set when I was little. I remember twisting around and around in it and then letting go. Can't remember exactly the last time I was in a swing, it wouldn't have been too long ago, though, you never out grow swinging.
ReplyDeleteThe circle of life - sisters, daughters, mothers, ...
ReplyDeleteIt's funny too 'cuz me and my daughter were going through some old pics just last night :)
Love the pics : )
ReplyDeleteThat's funny about you and your sister looking like your daughters. A couple of my students were looking at a picture of my older daughter the other day, and one of them said, "Wow, she looks just like you ... but thinner, and not as old." Heehee ;-)
We have a giant swingset in the backyard. In the summer it's fun to get out there. It's a great workout. I still lean my head back and whoosh through the air.
ReplyDeleteAs a kid I did! As a grown up it gives me horrible motion sickness.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED to swing as a kid. We had a swing set, but my best friend had a better one -- bigger and more solid, and the swings had wooden seats. Last time I swung was when my kids were small.
