Feeling Ducky?

Today is National Rubber Ducky Day! Yes, that's right -- National Rubber Ducky Day! And no, I don't make these things up. Other people beat me to it, but I would if I could. Did you have a rubber ducky as a kid? I did, but it was a simple one, not like the fancy ones they have today. The picture above is of a few of the boy's rubber duckies. I think these are Disney, so they must have come from my mother-in-law. Oriental Trading Company has a nativity set of rubber duckies that I'd love to get sometime. The only bad part is that I'd have to buy a bunch of sets just to get one. Maybe someday. If you click on the link above, there is an interesting story about rubber ducks washing off a cargo ship during a storm and arriving at different places around the world. I bet that was a sight to see. And of course, National Rubber Ducky Day wouldn't be complete without Ernie ...

Voting Update -- A New Job for Dilly is still holding at the #3 spot. That's better than #5 like it was, but not as good as #2 where it started. If you haven't voted yet, the polls are open until tomorrow, so there's still time to move little Dilly up a bit. Click here to vote -- thanks!

  1. I love that rubber ducky song! I don't remember if I had a rubber ducky, but all three of my kids played with them in the tub!

  2. Then there was that wonderfully funny album by Vaughn Meader where he imitates JFK. In one skit there's descriptions of the toys in the tub used by the kids and JFK (Vaughn Meader) says, "And the rubber shwan is mine."

  3. Fun post! Rubber duckies are big in my family so this was good information. My 9 month old granddaughter loves hers.

  5. I love the rubber ducky song!! I never had a rubber ducky growing up... so deprived. My kids have one but it isn't really a favourite in the tub. They are more excited to play with shovels and scoops... oh and these flutes that are so annoying that of course they love them!
