I think I can, I think I can ...

I found this picture book at the Salvation Army on Saturday. I held it up for Rick to see and squealed, "Look at what I found!" He just looked at me like I was crazy and said, "Is this something special?" I've always loved this story. And, when I can find a huge, hardcover picture book for a quarter, well, it was worth squealing over. There is only a small tear on the dustcover and it's on the back, so it's not even that visible. The pages are in perfect condition and it looks like it's never even been read. All for a quarter! The illustrations aren't the original ones from the 1930s, but they're nice and have a 1950s feel to them. Cool book, especially since it runs for $17.99 at Borders. Did I mention it cost a QUARTER?

In other news -- both my boys are sick right now. They're both coughing and sniffing, so we're kind of taking it easy with school again today. We only have 10 more school days before our trip to Disney World. I felt bad this morning making them work when they were hacking so much. We didn't even take a spring break this year because of our Florida trip. Hopefully, they'll be all over this by the time we leave on the 14th. Knowing me, that's right about the time I should catch it.

I got to change my weight-loss ticker thing today, so that always puts me in a good mood. That's the little pirate scale on the right here that shows my progress. I've been on a low-carb eating plan since October 1st and today I hit 58 pounds lost. I still have more I want to lose, but at least I'm no longer stalled like I was in March. I'd really like to hit 60 pounds lost by the time we leave, so I'm going to strive for that. I think I can ... I think I can! Today I put on a pair of old shorts I've had stored away for years. Originally, they were my 'fat shorts' because I got them when I started putting on weight. I've been waiting to be able to fit into them again -- only to find they're TOO BIG! How funny is that! Oh well, they're too high waisted anyway. I found a bunch of cute shorts at the Salvation Army that I'm planning on wearing on my trip. They may be used, but at least they're from this DECADE, unlike my others I've been saving. So, that's my news for today. What's new with you?

  3. That book totally reminds me of my grandma. She had five picture books at her house when I was growing up and that was one of them. I'm sure I've read it fifty times or more!
    Great find!

Green Girl -- I did. I bought 2 new pairs of sandals and a new bathing suit. It's a start! :)

I'm at 59 pounds now, so maybe I CAN reach 60 pounds lost by the time we leave for our trip. Maybe!
