Yellowstone Monday

The first three pictures were taken at the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. It's a great place to see grizzlies and wolves close up. These bears are huge and it's amazing how tiny their eyes are. They're adding onto their wolf habitat to include a river area and it's going to be awesome when it's completed. You'll be able to go into a cabin and see wolves walking around on both sides through windows. Check out the raven picture! I don't know what he picked up, but when he turned to face me, it looked like he had great big red kissy lips! The last picture was taken from the car driving on I-90 through Butte, Montana. This statue, called Our Lady of The Rockies, is up on the mountain and it's absolutely huge. Those are full grown pine trees around it if that gives you any idea how big this statue is. ETA link and note the statue is 90 feet tall -- wow!

  2. Thanks Doda! As always, the trip is never long enough for me. I could spend weeks in Yellowstone and never get bored. I'm glad you liked the pictures! :)

  3. The statue on the mountain is a great one. Very moody.

Great shot of the grizzly, too.

  4. Thanks Gale. I took a picture of it on the way there, but it was a lot more blurry. On the way back I got out Rick's zoom and got a better one, except it was funny because the statue was covered in clouds. They were moving and so we were on the interstate, so I just lucked out that I got anything at all.

  8. Adrienne -- I guess that goes both ways because I really wish I could draw and paint like you do. I LOVE that kitten painting as well as your opposum one. Too cute!

Jeannine -- No kidding on the wolf. The poor thing had a red cut on the other side of his nose. Sometimes when we're camping at the RV park, we can hear the wolves howling at night from there. It's so eerie!

Brenda -- I'm glad you've enjoyed the pictures from our trip. I'm such a picture nut, so these are only a few I took. I stole my husband's camera with the 400mm lens and don't want to give it back. ;)

  9. Love that raven! And Mr. Bear looks pretty darn intense, not someone I'd want to meet in say, a dark forest.

    Thanks for sharing.

  12. Bish -- Oh, I know what you mean. I've seen a lot of bears before and this is probably the biggest one I've ever seen. This pic of his face doesn't do it justice to show how huge he really was. Isn't it funny though, that such a big bear has those tiny eyes.

Christy -- LMHO @ Angelina Jolie would be jealous! Too funny! Rick & I were trying to figure out what the red thing was yesterday. I think it's part of a bell pepper, but Rick thinks it might be something else. It was so funny how he turned to me and looked like he had big red lips.
