A White Christmas!

For Christmas we got SNOW, SNOW and more SNOW! There was no shortage of snow on Christmas Day. In fact, our deck had only been halfway shoveled off and the snow on the other side was getting too thick. Rick & I went outside and shoveled nearly 20 inches off, all the while several more inches took its place. This picture shows our 6 mini trees out front, or what's left of them. These trees are 2 feet tall. It is snowing really good right now too and the forecast doesn't show any signs of letting up soon. From what I can see, a lot of places are being pounded with snow right now. It's a good thing Santa brought us snowshoes for Christmas. We tried them out on Christmas Day and stomped around the yard a bit. Without them, you sink up to your knees. I even got out my XC skis yesterday and slide around the yard a bit. That was fun. The snow is still too powdery to make snowmen, but the boys have had fun sledding. I hope everyone is staying warm -- and dry! One of the best gifts we've ever gotten was 2 years ago when my SIL sent us a boot dryer. That thing has been running nonstop lately. Merry Christmas everyone and I wish you all the absolute best for 2009!

  1. Such fun Rena.
We had only one sledding day earlier in the month. And then a green Christmas. I still have my fingers crossed for at least one more snow this winter (last year we had a blizzard on Easter Sunday and went sledding!)

Happy holidays to you and your family!

  2. I wish it would do that here, I love snow, Darren is always wanting a couple of feet, but it is just very windy. Always windy, ugh.

  3. Oh cool, you wound up getting the snow shoes after all!

We all made out like bandits on Christmas Eve & Day, especially the girls. And even with Amazon wishlists, we still wound up with a couple of duplicate gifts! I'm thinking of donating them to the library.

Anyway, looks like you all had a great Christmas. Best wishes for the New Year to you & yours, Rena. :)

  4. The snow looks lovely, but I'm glad I don't have to shovel it.

It's amazing how those lights stay on under all that snow!

  5. Wow! It looks beautiful there! All of our snow AND ice is now gone. It's been thundering and raining here (yes in December!) and we've been without power for hours. We JUST got the generator hooked up. Woo hoo for generators! :)

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

  6. I love that fresh snow look! We got pounded with snow all last week, and today it rained cats and dogs....leaving us with brown, dirty, yucky slush everywhere :(

    Enjoy your snowshoes, Rena!

  7. We had a white Christmas too! It was beautiful.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday.

BTW: I can see how - after shoveling the heavy stuff - that white stuff can seem a bit like dandruff . . . bothersome, after a while.

But I loved it for the week we had it :)

  9. Hey Rena!
Glad you had a good Christmas. We did too but instead of snow - we got rain! Weird. And the past two days we have had temperatures over 10C ... double weird. So alot of our snow has melted but what hasn't is perfect packing snow so we have MANY snowman all over the place!

Christmas was great and everyone was spoiled as usual. I ate WAY too much food and I am still full!

    A good day all around!

  10. Thanks for stopping by, everyone! I know Christmas is a busy time for many people.

Tracy -- I'd love to see pictures of your snowmen. I love driving by the schools up here because the playgrounds are filled with snowmen or snowmen carcasses. That's something I NEVER saw living in SoCA. We're getting some rain today so our snow is turning into slush. Rick's trying to get some of it off the roof right now because it's so heavy. I think we're due for more snow for the next 2 weeks, so this slush will soon turn to ice. Not fun.

  11. Our Christmas was also very white. Then we had, in quick succession, a day of sun, a day of rain, and another snowfall, and now we have ice under snow. Yikes!
