Belle -- a whole year later.

Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of having to put our cat to sleep. Belle would have celebrated her 18th birthday on Friday. I'm thankful for the 17 years we got to spend with her, but I miss her a lot. I miss her leaning on my legs all night long. I miss her sassy little meow that sounded like, "Yeah!" I miss seeing her tiny nose with the streak of orange running up it. I miss her snotty little attitude and how she snapped at me whenever I ticked her off. I miss how she would snuff at Rick and I'd tell him, "She hates you." She was an ornery little cuss, but I really miss her -- we all do. Back when we first lost her, Rick said something that stuck with me. He said something to the effect that she was in Kitty Heaven comparing notes with CJ. If that's true, I'm in big trouble! Ha!

  1. Truthfully, I don't think she's in Kitty Heaven at all. I think she lives at my house, reincarnated.

My Henry (she is a girl btw) looks exactly, I mean, exactly like her. Does the same leg thing, the same snappy thing, the same make me want to throw something at her thing.

If I ever figure out my camera, I'll send you a picture. It's really scary how much they look alike.

And you never get over the loss of a pet. Ever. I still mourn all my animals.

  2. A lovely tribute. Losing a four-legged furry family member is hard and I don't think we ever completely get over it. In time the pain is a little easier. Their wonderful spirit lives with us each day.

    Thoughts in Progress

  3. It's so hard to lose those we love.

  4. Anne -- I would LOVE to see a picture of your cat, Henry. I'm not sure why Belle was always so snippy and ornery, but we used to joke it was because of that orange streak going up her nose.

Mason -- Thank you and I agree that it's difficult to get over the loss. I still miss my cat CJ that I lost way back in 1995. I think about him everyday.

    Kim -- Thank you, too.
