A rose is a rose is a rose ...


Ever hear that saying? Do you know what it means? Gertrude Stein wrote it in her 1913 poem called Sacred Emily. It was originally, "Rose is a rose is a rose". The first rose stood for a person by that name. The saying simply means "things are what they are". It's interesting how we also have the saying, "It is what it is."     1. Thanks, Sherry. I took this picture at my old high school when I was there visiting this fall. There were two roses of this variety. They were gorgeous!
