So, we're studying texture in art design this week. We've had some fun projects, like showing fur on a sketch of an animal or painting paper different colors and cutting them into shapes. The other day our project was to cut out some flower shapes from old magazines. The images from the pictures were supposed to give the flowers texture. So, I work along with the boys to guide them a little and the above picture is the effect we're going for. I told them they could make trees if they didn't want to do girlie flowers. The following is what happened ...
I swear, boys are so different than girls, especially when it comes to art projects. My girls used to spend hours on their work, making everything completely perfect. And then I had the boys. Sheesh! Nathan pointed out that their pictures are still textured and made sure I noticed how he even made one of his people's head shaped like a tulip. They crack me up.
Gosh, those people the boys made look very scary!
ReplyDeleteThey are very creative! My favorite is the Quaker and Chewy person. I also like the carrot body.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Creativity comes in different packages. One must try be as prepared as one can be to recognizeit.
ReplyDeleteThis was an amazing activity to allow self-expression. The freedom to create people the way they feel rather than the way they see them.
ReplyDeleteNice job. My daughter loves to draw but her people all tend to look like alligators. And they're purple.
ReplyDeleteHow much fun is that! And how great that you can inspire them that way. My dogs look like cats, that look like pigs, that look like cows... :)
ReplyDeleteOh, what fun. It looks like your boys really enjoyed the project.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you're enjoying your class and your kids. :) I wonder what you guys'll do next...
ReplyDeleteThose are great!
ReplyDeleteThose are so cool! My favorite is the middle figure in the bottom row, top picture. Looks like Ellen DeGeneres with major eyes. :)
ReplyDeleteDuh...
ReplyDeleteGirls are sugar and spice and everything nice - that's what little girls are made of
But boys. . .
Snakes and snails and puppy dog tails, that's what little boys are made of
You can tell your boys that their pictures made my day! Thanks for the giggle - and hey, they are still textured! :)
ReplyDeleteOMG, how funny! Your boys are brilliant and you know it! LOL
