Today I am honored to introduce an adorable picture book -- What's Wrong With Mud? Written by Gillian Colley and illustrated by Nikki Shoemaker, today is day 2 of Nikki's virtual tour for her first published book. If her name sounds familiar, it's because Nikki is also illustrating my upcoming book, Lemur Troops & Critter Groups. Nikki is an amazing illustrator. Her animal characters are so adorable that you just want to reach out and cuddle them. What's Wrong With Mud? is no exception -- it's cuter than cute! There are splashing ducks, messy pigs, lots of gooey mud -- and fun for all!
Mud is fascinating stuff -- it can be used many ways. You can make a building out of mud. Some ceramics are made from mud. Spas use mud for facial treatments. In Haiti, mud is used for food because people are so poor and it helps quench their hunger. People wrestle in mud. Monster trucks and motorcycles race in mud. The list goes on and on. One joy of being a kid is making mud pies. I remember getting the mud so gooey and wet that it jiggled when I patted it. Just like the book title -- What's Wrong With Mud? -- everyone has their own idea of what they like or dislike about mud!
